David Iben stated that while US farmland opportunities are less compelling, companies in Ukraine offer significant value. He noted that Ukrainian farmland is trading at 80-90% discounts on an EV to hectares basis compared to the US Midwest, despite having some of the best agricultural land globally.
“We look for places that are not in the US that deserve to trade a third cheaper but trade two-thirds cheaper. Like in the case of, uh, Ukraine, not anybody's first choice, but famously has some of the best farmland in the world.”
“So, uh, we have a couple companies there that on, uh, EV to hectares of land basis are trading at 80 to 90% discounts to what you would find in the Midwest.”
