Mark Cuban emphasized the need for greater transparency in the U.S. healthcare system before considering a Medicare for All model. He pointed to a lack of clarity in military drug spending and reimbursement rates as an example of systemic opacity, arguing that such transparency issues would hinder negotiations for drug pricing.
“Mark says the US government needs to take other steps before launching into Medicare for All. For example, he says we have a transparency issue.”
“And if she can't get those prices, how can we expect that we'll be able to negotiate brand and specialty drug pricing and selling gene therapy among other things, pricing. We can't.”
“Basically, Mark wants more transparency across the whole system. And to do that, he believes we need to break up the healthcare conglomerates. The pharmacies, drug negotiators, and health insurers. Because the current structure incentivizes self-dealing and lack of transparency.”
