Diaspora Spice Co. has significantly improved the livelihoods of its partner farmers by paying them an average of $26,000 per year, a substantial increase from the typical South Asian farmer income of $2,000. This financial empowerment allows farmers to invest in their families' education and expand their farming ambitions.
“The average South Asian farmer makes about $2,000 per year. Okay. That is like the average income of a three to four acre farmer in South Asia, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan. We are able to pay our farm partners $26,000 a year on average.”
“Year two, they will send their kids to better schools and start being able to take care of different family members and health needs. And then year three, they will look into expansion and their ambitions will grow.”
