Mary Talbert's home, located next to the Michigan Street church, was the site where the Niagara Movement was founded. This influential movement, established by W.E.B. Du Bois and William Trotter along with other leaders, eventually evolved into the NAACP. Talbert was a significant figure in civil rights, particularly in the South.
