Rebecca Anderson of McKinsey Global Institute discussed the "secret sauce" behind the US's economic success over the past 250 years. She identified key factors including vast natural resources and a strong culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, stating that the US has been involved in three-quarters of the top 100 inventions of the last 250 years.
“And to your question, what has been that secret sauce so to speak for the last 250 years? Fundamentally, there are a couple of foundations that the US has had throughout the last 250 years that have shown through time and again. The first one that we mentioned is basically natural endowment. So the US has had and continues to have tremendous natural resources.”
“In addition to that set of advantages, there's also this idea of this culture of innovation and entrepreneurship that has come through time and again. And by our accounting, US has had some hand in three quarters of the top 100 inventions of the past 250 years.”
