Following a recent Federal Open Market Committee meeting where interest rates were unchanged, six members have publicly indicated a willingness to raise rates. Economists anticipate an increase in interest rates soon, as this is a traditional tool the Fed uses to manage price stability.
“I think we're probably going to have an increase in rates pretty soon.”
“You know, if they are going to forcefully deliver price stability, then the way that we know that the Fed typically has tried to deliver price stability is through manipulating interest rates, uh, with the hopes that that will slow the inflation rate.”
