Economist Robin Brooks indicated that rising oil prices will likely lead to higher prices at the pump in the US, impacting consumer spending and potentially fueling resentment over affordability. He suggested that this economic pressure might lead to renewed efforts to negotiate a peace deal with Iran.
“And obviously this is going to push the price at the pump back up, right? So it's not good for the US consumer. And it's going to feed resentment and fears over affordability. So that's not good.”
