Guide Rob Hyatt is highlighted for his work in Melbourne, aiming to place Indigenous history at the forefront of the city's narrative. Hyatt's efforts focus on reconnecting people with the landscape and its Indigenous heritage, countering a sole focus on colonial history. This approach is seen as vital for understanding the land and its original inhabitants.
“And so I think that that's a great resource for people who want to take a tour and learn a little bit more about the first peoples that lived in and around the water there.”
“He's a fascinating guy. And what I love about what Rob Hyatt's doing in Melbourne is that again, as we say, there is this understanding of the disconnection between indigenous groups and their land, particularly in Victoria.”
“He's really, he's really looking at making sure that this city, you know, has got its indigenous history front and center. And it's not just about the colonial history that we've all been taught.”
