David Stein, host of Money For the Rest of Us, expresses concern about an options trading outfit called "Low Stress Trading." He advises listeners to be wary of investment strategies that promise high income, as they often overlook potential losses. Stein noted that Low Stress Trading has a relatively short performance record, starting in late 2022, and has not updated its data since April 2025.
“And the reality is, whenever I hear the word low stress as it relates to any type of investing or betting, red flags go up.”
“But what we don't want to do is confuse the income, the high levels of income we can get from selling protection, selling puts or selling calls, as part of a covered call strategy. We cannot forget that that income is not the return. This is insurance.”
“And low stress trading emphasizes this is an insurance type strategy. But they ignore the potential for losses.”
“The other thing to be wary of about with this type of strategy is we want to look at what the performance record has been for any type of investment service.”
“Now, keep in mind, 2022 was a difficult time if you were in options trading.”
