Chris Whalen predicts a global monetary system shift, moving towards a model similar to the pre-World War I era where countries compete based on currency value. He believes gold will re-emerge as the foundation of this system, with countries increasing their gold reserves at the expense of U.S. dollar holdings.
“We're going back to something that looks like the period before World War One, where countries had to compete in terms of the value of their money. And we're going to have gold as the foundation of the entire system.”
“Americans have been brainwashed for the past 100 years to think that gold is no longer significant. But guess what? When people sell treasury securities, they're buying gold. And they're doing so by spending fiat currency.”
“But I think you're going to see countries holding their reserves in gold instead of dollars.”
