Keith McCullough states he is short the Canadian dollar against the US dollar, noting this often causes controversy. He expresses a critical view of former Bank of Canada governor Stephen Poloz (referred to as Carney), attributing his stance to a perceived lack of macro understanding and competitive drive.
“Well, I am short of Canadian dollars versus the US dollar. And, um, you know, this is this ruffles some feathers. It's an amazing thing. I was just up in, uh, Hamilton, Ontario, Steeltown. I'm sure you've been there.”
“Um, but, you know, a lot of Canadians love Carney. I didn't realize this. And I'm like, so Carney, who I'm not especially a fan of because, you know, he was a Harvard goalie and I played, I played hockey. And, uh, and he was, wasn't a good goalie. He was a terrible goalie. He was like the third string goalie. And then he's a lifetime central banker. And he ever, you know, he worked at Goldman Sachs. So if you can think of like why I may not like Carney, it has nothing to do with politics. It's just very competitive. Um, and, uh, and, and, when it comes to macro, like I get it and he doesn't.”
