Ron Paul characterizes current wars as undeclared and unnecessary, serving the interests of the military-industrial complex and other special interests. He notes that Congress rarely declares war, which founders intended to be a deliberative process.
“Oh, I don't know whether they're exactly the same. But in principle, they're all the same. It's fighting undeclared, unnecessary war that serves the interest of special interest, the military industrial complex and, uh, who knows what other features are in there.”
“So, uh, there might be a little bit of variation, but it's there they're stopped. Uh, uh, we don't we continue to fight these wars because we have politicians that won't follow the rules. Because, uh, you know, just since World War II, we never even bothered declaring war. The founders were very explicit. You have to declare war. The people have to have a part. You have to have a debate.”
