Danielle DeMartino Booth disputes the Fed's assertion that the workforce is keeping pace with job creation, citing her observations of college graduates earning less than expected and data on AI-displaced workers. She suggests the Fed is pursuing a 'Goldilocks' narrative that may not align with economic reality.
“Maybe I'm just too close to college graduates because I've got four kids in college right now. I listen to what their friends are saying. I listen to the fact that they're getting paid less than what they thought they would get paid.”
“So, um, Warsh's assessment that the workforce is, uh, is keeping pace with job creation doesn't bear out in the data.”
“I think he wants to portray, um, a goldilocks Fed chair, someone who is going to see the labor market remain strong while bringing inflation down.”
