Vice President JD Vance emphasized the importance of addressing the fiscal deficit to provide market confidence. He stated that while his anti-fraud efforts have saved $250 billion, real bipartisan legislative solutions are necessary for long-term fiscal health, noting that neither party appears serious about the debt.
“Yeah, look, it's a very important and fair question. I mean, I think that fundamentally, the anti-fraud efforts that I've been focusing on, we've saved about 250 billion dollars of the American taxpayers' money that would have otherwise gone to fraudsters.”
“And of course, we are going to need some real bipartisan legislative solutions to give markets confidence, not just that we're going to be serious about the deficit, but that hopefully the president who comes after and the Congress that comes after, they're going to be serious about the deficit.”
“I think fundamentally the problem here, and I think what the markets are responding to at this moment, is the perception that neither congressional Republicans or Democrats are serious about the debt and the deficit.”
