Bitcoin's adoption of post-quantum cryptography is hindered by its less flexible nature and governance structure compared to newer blockchains like Near. The focus is on signature schemes that are less computationally intensive and smaller in size, such as MLGDSA.
“Yeah, so, uh, Bitcoin is, uh, obviously a very interesting case, uh, because it's, uh, it's not as flexible as, uh, Near, for example.”
“And, uh, the governance, uh, is also quite different. Uh, and so, uh, the approach for Bitcoin has been, uh, to, uh, kind of, uh, focus on, uh, on signatures that are, uh, less computationally intensive, uh, and, uh, smaller, uh, in terms of, uh, size.”
“And so, uh, that's why, uh, the current, uh, discussion is around, uh, MLGDSA, uh, and, uh, also, uh, kind of, uh, other candidates that are, uh, more, uh, privacy-preserving.”
