Near Protocol has launched mainnet with the first post-quantum signature support, enabling users to hold assets with quantum-secure keys. This move allows the broader ecosystem to begin supporting this new security standard.
“And now we are, the conversation is more about, like, how do we migrate? And, and this, this is the, the big, uh, the big challenge now.”
“Because, uh, at the end, we don't really care when the next quantum computer will happen. Uh, we are using cryptography in order to create trust into the security of our systems. As soon as this trust is eroded, then we need to upgrade.”
“Specifically maybe from our side, uh, a few months ago, we actually launched mainnet with the first, uh, post-quantum signature support, uh, allowing users to now hold assets on Near, with post-quantum secure key. And as far as I know, first time you are able to do that on major blockchain.”
