Maria Fung shares her personal success in securing four business and first-class seats on ANA from San Francisco to Asia during winter break by shifting her strategy to focus on American Express (AMEX) points. She notes that ANA only partners with AMEX, making its points crucial for this specific redemption, despite having a large balance of Chase points.
“First thing is, my favorite program and airline, ANA, only in airways. So they have the only partner with AMEX. So even though I have tons of Chase credit card, huge amounts of Chase points, they couldn't make my dream come true.”
“So I shifted the whole strategy, not really listening to those mainstream advice, I built my AMEX points system and, you know, totally different approach. Not really just the chase.”
“So, you know, I got four business class seats on ANA for us to fly from San Francisco to Asia during winter breaks. So literally two first class and two business class.”
