A conversation with a PM on the Codex team reveals that engineers are now empowered to build their own features and are also encouraged to speak with customers. This shift means PMs spend more time managing the influx of ideas and customer requests that engineers are now equipped to pursue.
“Yeah, I was talking to a PM on the Codex team and he said, you know, D, these days engineers are empowered to just build your own features and asked to talk to customers too.”
“So yeah, he spends a lot of time with the enterprise folks just like understanding what they want. And just trying to manage all the stuff that the engineering actually wants to ship is like, it's like so much more stuff shipping now, right? Because it's like so much easier to build.”
