Twiggy shares a harrowing experience at age 17 when she was mobbed by a crowd, requiring a bodyguard to rescue her. She also discusses a now-famous interview with Woody Allen where she couldn't name a philosopher, a moment that has since gone viral. Twiggy explains her panic during the interview, as she was unprepared for such a question in front of an audience.
“I mean, I got mobbed at one point and I thought I was going to get squashed. And I remember that the photographer I was working with, Miles. Miles Cosby, he'd hired a bodyguard for me, which I thought, oh, that's, you know, I don't need a bodyguard, I'm fine.”
“So when he opened with who's your favorite philosopher? It was like, oh my god. I remember, I can remember the feeling to this day, my stomach. I was like, oh my god, because I didn't know any philosophers. And I thought, don't cry, don't cry, because there's an audience. And all I wanted to do was leave. I didn't want to be there.”
“And, so in my panic, I kind of looked at him and said, well, who's your favorite philosopher? And you know, I don't know any. And he said, come on, everyone's got a favorite philosopher. And I said, well, who's yours? And he says something like, you know, your Greeks and your Romans or whatever. And I said, yeah, but what their names? And he didn't know and he couldn't know either. So, but apparently that clip has gone viral, I've been told.”
