JJ Martin reflected on her career path, starting from writing for online fashion news and the International Herald Tribune before moving to Harper's Bazaar. She credits her time at Harper's Bazaar, working under Glenda Bailey, for instilling a strong work ethic and a drive to 'go the extra mile'.
“First job was bottom of the Barrel media world, the world's first online fashion news service, which was Fashion Maura Daily. Then got hired to write for the International Herald Tribune, which was sort of like my big break.”
“And all of us who worked under Glenda, I would say we all kind of developed that real hard working mentality, which isn't to say that at other magazines, they don't. I just meant that, like there was this real idea that we had to go the extra mile in order to get that scoop or to get that access.”
