Amazon Prime Video is experimenting with AI-generated lip-syncing to better match dubbed audio with on-screen actors' movements, currently available on the German series 'Maxon Hall.' While the technology aims to increase access to international content for non-English speaking communities, concerns remain regarding its reception and potential impact on voice actors.

“It's a little weird. Yeah, 100%. I mean, it's really interesting because when you are coming at it from the non-English speaking perspective, like I growing up in Colombia, I would watch SpongeBob in Spanish and it would just be the most absurd experience ever. And it did allow for access to this great art, SpongeBob, in Latin America. So the flip side, the positive side is that it increases access to some of these shows and this media for communities that may not have had the access before.”
“So that that's one plus. And, um, you know, Amazon is also saying they won't replace voice actors, and though, as you know, voice actors are another big consideration for creative industries, that's something that they are trying to mitigate.”
