Data center developers are increasingly looking towards Patagonia for investment due to its cold climate and energy availability, coupled with favorable regulatory regimes like Argentina's proposed incentives. Despite political stability concerns surrounding upcoming elections, companies are drawn to the potential benefits for large-scale projects.
“All right, well, now we want to take a trip south to the cold arid plains of Patagonia, which apparently has become a top destination for data center builders.”
“You have cold environments and you have energy. You also have ideal regulatory regimes, right? So in Argentina, for example, they have this super rickety proposal that it's moving its way through their legislature and it would essentially make the incentives for these large scale data centers to come into Argentina, it would make them even more attractive, you know, tax incentives and certainty.”
“But I think the flip side of this is the political stability. And that being a factor for some of these companies, you know, 2027, there's going to be a presidential election and the financial certainty that we have seen in Milan might not continue.”
