Andrew Chen highlighted a key mission of A16Z Speedrun: actively helping to create new companies rather than solely waiting for entrepreneurs to approach the firm. This involves identifying individuals with potential, even those still in full-time jobs, and encouraging them to start businesses, potentially accelerating their entrepreneurial journey.
“And so by that point, you know, yeah, you have customers, you have, um, you have uh, uh, metrics to look at, you have a team, etcetera.”
“For us, one of the really radical things, something that I take, um, you know, uh, a lot of personal pride and excitement in is the idea that we are not just waiting for entrepreneurs to show up at our doorstep at A16Z, but we are actually helping create the companies in the first place.”
“So for example, in the last Speedrun batch, there were 70 companies.”
