Anthropic has officially released Claude Sonnet 5, a new AI model that promises to deliver performance comparable to their Opus model but at a significantly reduced cost and increased speed. This release follows earlier rumors and anticipation within the AI community.
“Breaking news. after we recorded this, uh, Claude Sonnet 5 did come out. The model looks very good. Benchmarks boys are feeling better about this. It compares very nicely to GPT 5.5.”
“The reason people are even remotely excited for this is that it's going to perform supposedly at the level that Opus does today. But it's going to be faster and cheaper.”
