After animators Harman and Ising left Warner Brothers in 1933, taking character rights with them, the studio, working from a location nicknamed 'Termite Terrace,' developed new talent and characters. Friz Freleng created Porky Pig, who debuted in a 1935 Merrie Melodies cartoon, becoming the first major Looney Tunes star despite not being the main character in his first appearance.
