Air France Flying Blue US Status Match Ended, Alternative via BILT Platinum Remains

Paul inquired about the end of the Air France Flying Blue status match for US residents. Greg confirmed it has ended but noted that a match to Flying Blue Gold is still possible for those with BILT Platinum status by transferring 10,000 points.

Paul wrote, I listen to the podcast over the weekend and he was talking about the shortcuts to flying blue elite status that Tim and I recorded. And then went to statusmatch.com and noticed that this status match, um, the status match to, um, Air France flying blue like silver or gold status, um, has ended for the US. Is there another way to status match or do we have to wait until it opens up again for US residents?

Yeah, this was unfortunate that when we recorded the podcast, we didn't realize that the US status match had ended. It has. We've set up an, uh, automated job to alert us when it comes back and of course, we'll post on the blog and we'll mention on the podcast about it coming back if and when it does. But for now, the only kind of status matchy type of thing that I'm aware of, uh, requires getting built platinum status. And then as we talked about on the podcast, you can transfer 10,000, um, points to flying blue and that will match you to gold status. Um, so that's a great way to do it, but it does have that significant hurdle of needing to have built platinum status.
