Chris Broad suggests the Izu Peninsula or the Shizuoka coastline provides the best views of Mount Fuji, offering a perspective from sea level that allows for a better appreciation of the mountain's scale. He contrasts this with Lake Kawaguchiko, where being closer to the mountain obstructs the full view.
“But the thing about Kawaguchiko is, it's sort of 500 or 600 meters up Mount Fuji, I think, it's kind of up it a fair way. And so you can't really appreciate the scale of the mountain, uh, as you can when you're a bit further away.”
“So the best place to see Fuji is actually the Izu Peninsula, or certainly along the coastline of Shizuoka, where you can kind of see the mountain from sea level.”
“And I didn't know it was, it's 4 kilometers high, but my god, to look up that high and see it. It was insane.”
“And for my money, Izu is where it's at.”
