Travis, a producer for The Vergecast, alerted listeners to a phishing scheme where someone is impersonating him on platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Telegram. He clarified that he is not proactively reaching out to people for podcast appearances and advised listeners to be wary of such messages.
“Someone is impersonating me. I am one of the producers of The Vergecast.”
“Uh, and several people have reached out to me on LinkedIn to say that I, it's not me, have contacted them saying, you know, do you want to be on The Vergecast?”
“I have no way to fix this problem because it's happening from multiple accounts. It's happening on Twitter, it's happening on Telegram.”
“So I'm just here on this platform to tell you, I'm not that proactive to be reaching out to people on Twitter all the time. It's probably not me.”
