Arm's entry into producing physical CPUs was partly driven by a request from Meta, which sought a general-purpose AGI CPU that was not available on the market. Meta approached Arm to collaborate on this, marking a significant partnership for Arm's new venture.
“Not all of our customers build products that serve those markets. So, Meta was that first example. They wanted a general purpose AGI CPU. There wasn't anybody out who could give it to them. They came to us and said, uh, hey, why don't we do this together? And that's how we got into it.”
