Introducing Compound Writing Plugin: AI as a 'Gym' for Better Writing

Katie Parrott discusses the launch of her Compound Writing plugin, inspired by Kieran Klassen's Compound Engineering. The plugin aims to improve writing by treating feedback as cumulative, offering a structured 'workout system' that incorporates elements from esteemed writers like Kurt Vonnegut and Alfred Hitchcock to enhance the writing process.

Compounding is the idea that every piece of feedback that you give to AI should feed back into the system to improve the next output.
The Compound Writing plugin, it started, I literally just forked. Forked is a word that I know now because I wouldn't have known if I weren't working with AI, but I pulled the compound engineering plugin down and talked to Claude about it said, I want to take this compound engineering plugin and adapt it for writing.
The analogy that I use for the Compound Writing plugin is that it's a gym. It's a workout system to like make you a better writer because most of the, so like, for example, in the editing step, I built in a lot of these reviewers. One of my favorites is Vonnegut. So Kurt Vonnegut had these like eight elements of story structure. So it's things like start as close to the end as possible. You know, every sentence has to earn its place. Give the reader a character they can root for. And I just turned that into a skill in the plugin.
