Contrary to "Dead Internet Theory," Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince observes that the web has begun growing again since October 2025, driven by non-technical individuals using accessible tools to create sophisticated applications. He believes this trend is making the internet healthier.
“And then right around, um, October of 2025, um, the internet, the web started growing again. And it started growing at a rate which which most closely resembles, you know, kind of the mid 2000s.”
“What I think is happening instead is that, you know, people who were not particularly technical, people who didn't have a lot of resources, but they had an interesting idea, they had a story to tell, they had something to share. Um, all of a sudden were able to use, you know, incredible tools like, you know, Lable or or Repl or, you know, what the team at, uh, uh, Base44, you know, at Wix is doing.”
“And instead of it making the internet worse, I actually think the internet is getting better right now.”
