Ronjan Roy notes that Meta, usually adept at productizing existing technologies, is struggling to translate its AI power into consumer-facing applications. The company is also licensing models from other companies, suggesting their own models may not be competitive.
“What's so fascinating to me about this is Meta, Meta is the greatest organization in terms of productizing things that are already out in the world. Whether it's through acquisition, whether through copying.”
“I don't know. It it still, to me, the more surprising thing I think that you brought up was the fact that they are readily starting to use external models. Like, maybe Meta AI is not the answer. So they're not going to try to build that themselves.”
“But, you know, they have the ability to take that, and they're already licensing models from other companies. Maybe it's not that they don't know what to do with the compute. Maybe it's just that their own models aren't competitive.”
