Fairphone is applying its repairability ethos to its audio products, including earbuds and headphones. Raymond van Eck stated that all parts of their headphones are replaceable, and for their Fairbuds, even the small batteries can be changed, allowing users to extend the life of their devices.
“Well, people have this conviction that for instance, if you take the the Fairbuds, you know, in ears. Uh, it's, uh, it's super strange that if you lose one earpiece, you may have to buy a whole new set, or if the battery wears out, that you cannot just open the little thing and, and, and, uh, and, uh, you know, toss it away.”
“So, we make also, uh, these headphones, uh, every part is replaceable, even the drivers. Uh, but if you look for instance to our Fairbuds, uh, even the small battery you can, you can change.”
