Leslie Palti-Guzman explains that the unpredictability surrounding the Strait of Hormuz is causing hesitation for investors and buyers, particularly for countries reliant on transit through the strait. This has led to a vindication of multi-energy hedging strategies for buyers seeking diversified supply routes and pricing.
“So for countries that really depend on the transit via the strait to export any of their petroleum cargoes, basically it came to a halt or there is so much unpredictability that the investors may become hesitant to pour more money into those projects or for buyers to rely on those molecules.”
“And so we see a kind of vindication of what I call the multi-energy hedging strategy for buyer, where they are going to try to diversify at all costs, supply routes, pricing, contract, producers, and so on.”
