Monica Gerr argues that significant military spending, such as the NDAA and aid to Ukraine, should be considered a form of economic stimulus. While it may not have the largest multiplier effect, she believes it still provides a meaningful boost to the US economy through contract awards.
“I don't think we're stimulus out. From a political perspective, you cannot underestimate the Congress's ability to spend the justice is one point one trillion on NDAA, a ninety five billion additional to the US or on more right, this is a weird question.”
“I definitely call it stimulus when you're thinking about who's getting the contracts as a US based contract and so while it doesn't have necessarily the largest economic multiplier, there is still a multiplier there that is meaningful for the US economy.”
