Author and chef Michaela Tartaglia discussed her book 'An Apple a Day: 25 Surprising Universal Idioms and Their Origins' with Rick Steves. She explained that idioms are expressions used daily across languages and cultures, often reflecting cultural nuances.
“Idioms are way of saying expression that we use on a daily basis in all the languages, across the word, you just open this say I don't understand Greek. That's what you guys say in English? In Italian, we say non parlo l'arabo. I don't speak Arabic.”
“So, it's all relative. We think in a very similar way, but we express our concepts with different forms.”
