Host Dianna Mariam announced her departure from Optimal Finance Daily in her final episode, reflecting on how hosting the show helped her navigate personal financial uncertainty and personal growth. She shared her journey from experiencing a significant financial loss on the first Economy conference to leaving her corporate job and finding a sense of financial ease.
“When I started hosting this show in October of 2020, my life looked very different than it does now. I had just hosted the very first Economy conference in March of that year. If you aren't familiar, Economy is a party about money, specifically designed for the fire movement. And the very first event happened right as the world was shutting down due to COVID. I took a $40,000 loss on that first event.”
“Hosting this podcast during that season of my life was a genuine big deal. It gave me something to feel good about when a lot of other things felt shaky. It also allowed me to go even deeper on a subject matter I really cared about and kept me learning and growing alongside you, at a time when I needed it most.”
“I am not yet financially independent by the traditional definition. I am doing the Coast FI, slow FI version of this journey. But the pursuit itself has led me to create a life I don't feel I need to retire from. And I've come to learn that intentional living is harder and richer than any spreadsheet can capture.”
