Sam Altman, creator of ChatGPT, expressed reservations about Anthropic's Claude Opus 5, describing its personality as 'boring,' 'apologetic,' and 'overcorrected.' While acknowledging its coding capabilities, Altman stated he is actively avoiding the model due to these perceived personality traits, contrasting it with more anthropomorphic models of the past.

“But it's its personality that he's finding most interesting. In his view, that this is a model that is kind of boring and overcorrected. It's apologetic, it's scared, it's over it's kind of overcorrected for the kinds of issues that have come up. And he also mentioned that it is somewhat repetitive.”
“So, as a result, he has been actively avoiding using the model. And he has decided to steer clear of the model for now.”
