John, a 74-year-old from Connecticut, shares that he completed his goal of visiting 50 states and seven continents about five years ago. He was motivated to travel extensively from a young age, realizing that without effort, he might not venture far beyond his home region.

“I started with this when I was in college in Connecticut where I was brought up and realized that, and working in the state legislature and realized that if I didn't get out soon, I'd be like many of the people I had met and never get much beyond the borders of Connecticut, maybe New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Florida.”
