Trita Parsi warns that a newly formed pact between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan could evolve into an anti-Iran alliance if Iran is perceived as a major threat. This development is attributed to a loss of faith in the American security umbrella.
“So you see now, for instance, that Turkey, Saudi and Pakistan have created this pact. This is primarily driven because they have lost faith, understandably in the American security umbrella.”
“But it would be very dangerous for the Iranians, I would say, if this ends up becoming an anti-Iran pact, which it only would, if they are seeing Iran as a major threat.”
