John G. Crane, who spent six months in Fiji, stated that tourism accounts for a significant portion of the nation's economy. He noted that 60% of all tourists in the South Pacific visit Fiji, making it the most established destination in the region.
“So 60% of all tourists in the South Pacific go to Fiji. And tourism is about 40% of the economy of Fiji. So it's heavily reliant on tourism and it is by far the biggest tourist destination in the South Pacific.”
