Born Charles Louis Napoleon Bonaparte in 1808, Napoleon III, also known as Louis Napoleon, joined the secret revolutionary group Carbonari in Italy with his brother Napoleon Louis. Their involvement led to them fleeing the police after Napoleon Louis died of measles.
