Chamath Palihapitiya has launched two new platforms, 'Learn with Me' and 'Drink with Me,' aimed at providing curated knowledge and wine experiences respectively. 'Learn with Me' is a subscription service offering research and first-principles materials to prepare users for understanding complex topics, inspired by a McKinsey service he previously paid millions for. 'Drink with Me' addresses inefficiencies and artificial scarcity in the wine industry, aiming to build direct relationships with winemakers.
“I just created a team for myself and I said, you know, I want you guys to create a calendar and create first principles materials that I can use to learn about what I need to know about in the current moment.”
“So, you know, there's a community now of many thousands of people. The cost is about a thousand bucks a year. But it's all the content that my research team produces that I use to frame my point of view.”
“I can do one of two things. I can go and just get my own license. So I can collapse the middleman renter economics of the business. And I can create a community so that other people who would like to buy it can also buy using the same discount that I can now get.”
