Doug Casey stated that the US military budget, which is around a trillion dollars and Trump aims to increase, is bankrupting the country. He argued that the purpose of a military should be defense, not provocative global bases that act as 'missile magnets'.
“No, I don't think it's true. Because the military budget of the US is a trillion dollars. And Trump is trying to raise it to a trillion and a half. So, it's actually bankrupting the US, which is not helping the US at all.”
“Uh, the purpose of a military in a civil society is to defend it from attack. And having 800 provocative bases all over the world is not defending it from attack. They're acting as missile magnets right now.”
