Doug Casey proposed that the only intelligent option for the US regarding the Middle East is to withdraw its forces. He compared the situation to the Vietnam War, advocating for a direct withdrawal rather than prolonged involvement.
“Yeah, the only intelligent option is the US withdraws from the Middle East. Why, you might ask yourself, does the US have about and nobody knows, maybe they don't even know, 800 bases, various places in the world.”
“That's the way you solve. The way you solve this is the way the Vietnam problem should have been solved early on. You put the troops on the boats, you put the boats in reverse, and you go home and say, "Hey, I'm sorry, we made a mistake." But, no, he's not going to do that.”
