Doug Casey critically compared President Trump's repeated claims of Iranian concessions and impending peace to the 'Peanuts' comic strip character Lucy repeatedly pulling a football away from Linus. Casey expressed skepticism about these claims, referencing past instances where such predictions did not materialize.
“And I've got to say that I'm, um, I'm not a supporter of the Iranian regime or, uh, that's not an issue. What I'm saying in this case is that the Trump regime launched a surprise attack, a Pearl Harbor type attack on Iran, uh, with the Israelis, how many months ago that was.”
“Reading or listening to the news is an exercise in futility. Uh, somebody did a count of the number of times that Trump has said, "It's all over, peace is here, the Iranians have caved in," blah, blah, blah. And I think the last count of somebody that did this was 39 times. So, this is like for those of you who might have read Peanuts when it was published, it's like Lucy pulling the football on Linus again and again. And Linus never learns.”
