Ed Yardeni observes that 'bond vigilantes' are actively influencing bond yields in countries like the UK and Japan due to a perceived lack of fiscal and monetary vigilance. While an issue in the US, he notes it's not yet causing drastic economic impacts.
“Meanwhile, the bond vigilantes are doing their thing in places like the UK and Japan where bond yields have gone up a lot, uh, in protest of the lack of vigilance by the fiscal and monetary authorities.”
“And so, it's, uh, it's still an issue here, uh, but we're not at a point where the bond vigilantes are doing anything drastic to the economy.”
