In response to listener feedback, Marco Arment clarified Overcast's data collection policies. He stated that the app collects only anonymous usage data to improve the app, and no personally identifiable information is collected or shared. He emphasized the importance of user privacy.
“So we collect anonymous data about how the app is used. Uh, we don't collect any personally identifiable information.”
“But, uh, all of the usage data is anonymized. And, uh, we use that data to improve the app.”
“And, uh, you know, we don't sell your data to anyone. And we don't share it with anyone either. So, uh, your privacy is important to us.”
