Stephanie Pamboy highlights China's 'birth tourism' phenomenon, where hundreds of thousands of women reportedly come to the US to give birth. She expresses concern that this practice, along with other forms of 'birth tourism,' represents an exploitation of the US system.
“And if you take the extremes, you know, on the one side, you have now, um, China, for example, has this whole birth tourism business where, um, what I thought the stats were in the hundreds of thousands of women, Chinese women have come to the US specifically to give birth on US soil.”
“Right? So, you know, you get nine months pregnant, you jump on a plane, you come here, your kid's an American citizen, and, you know, you can make the argument like we are letting, uh, enemies basically biologically invade us.”
“So I I think that, you know, that Chinese example is one that sticks out to me as being particularly concerning.”
