A ransom note received by the family of Nancy Guthery demanded $4 million in Bitcoin for her safe return. The note, addressed to Savannah Guthery, stated, "We have your mother. She's safe, but don't screw this up." The FBI was consulted, and they authorized a small transaction to the provided Bitcoin address in an attempt to trace the perpetrators, but the funds were never accessed.
“On that Monday night, a ransom note comes in. And it says, hello Savannah. We have your mother. She's safe, but don't screw this up.”
“And they demanded $4 million in Bitcoin through this crypto address.”
“Nobody ever touched it.”
